Andi Matheny is a 25-year veteran of Hollywood with an eclectic resume that includes acting, hosting, commercials, voice overs, theater, a one-woman show, stand-up and improvisational comedy performance, and a live stunt show where she shot guns and cracked a whip.
Andi has always enjoyed writing comedy and creating content. She performed stand-up comedy in venues in Los Angeles and San Francisco, including The Improv, The Comedy Store, The Ice House and The Punchline. Her one-woman show "Andi's Act" was a critical favorite and she appeared in dozens of other plays in the LA area. She was also a member of the improv group ComedySportz.
Andi held a series of odd jobs, including writing greeting cards, selling RV’s, waitressing, and performing a live stunt show at Universal Studios. Her quick wit as a game show stand-in caught the attention of Ralph Edwards/Stu Billett Productions, resulting in hosting the comedy pilot Bring on the Boys. Several pilots followed, as did the nationally syndicated series Kwik Witz, Essentials on TLC, Fit Resort and Spa on FitTV, and Friends or Lovers on USA.
Andi filmed dozens of commercials, including spots for Breathe Right, Nyquil, Expedia, USPS, Equal, Toyota, Snickers, Entemann's to name a few. She was also the spokeswoman for Olay on TV in the US and in print in Europe. She lent her voice for several ads as well, for clients including Hilton Hotels, Sunkist, Disney, Microsoft, 7-Eleven, Taco Bell, Hewlett Packard, Time Warner, IHOP and Sprint.
Andi also made several appearances on TV shows and film. She did several sketches on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, played a ditsy psychology teacher on Zoey 101, a perky TV host opposite Salma Hayek on Ugly Betty, an annoyed soccer mom opposite Simon Baker in The Mentalist and appeared nude to Tony Shaloub's chagrin in Monk. She was also featured in the indie film American Zombie.
Andi's recent credits include Doom Patrol, David Makes Man, True Love Blooms for the Hallmark Movie Channel, Devious Maids, The Shadow Effect and the recurring role of Dr. Kelly Whitley on FOX's medical drama The Resident. She can currently be seen playing Joan in the movie High Expectations opposite Kelsey Grammer and Lydia Wadsworth in the Lionsgate feature Lady of the Manor directed by Justin and Christian Long.
Andi's directorial debut, the comedy short The Newest Member, won the Jury Prize for Best Florida Film in the 2017 Sunscreen Film Festival. Her web series Good Morning St. Pete! won Best Web Series in the 2018 Sunscreen Film Festival and earned Andi the 2018 Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival award for Best Leading Actress. GMSP! is currently available on YouTube.
In 2010 Andi opened The Andi Matheny Acting Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida. She has taught hundreds of students who have in turn started their acting careers in the Southeast and beyond. Her book "Act ALIVE: The Essential Guide for Igniting and Sustaining Your Working Actor Career" was published in 2022 and is available on Amazon. Andi currently splits her time between New York City, the West Coast and the Southeast.
